Second Annual POW/MIA Ceremony
Veterans Park, Temecula, 10:30 September 18, 2010

“Standing on the Shoulders of Giants before Me”

Honoring the Freedom Gained Through Ultimate Sacrifices.
Welcome to American Legion, Temecula Post 852 and Veterans – Temecula Valley’s Second

Annual Prisoner of War or Missing in Action Ceremony. “If I have seen further than others, it is

by standing upon shoulders of giants.” – Sir Isaac Newton.

Too often during the course of depending freedom we experience the ultimate sacrifice. But what

is freedom without those individuals willing to risk life and limb to defend it? It is for those individuals,

and for those times past, present, and future, we offer this dedication. We are forever grateful!

Standing of the shoulders of giants before me: The origin of this famous phrase, as with so many others,

is the subject of debate but it conveys in many ways and on many levels, the importance of those who

went before us: our leaders. Upon the shoulders of their wisdom, insight and strength is built our present

and our future. As a nation, we are able to see further and acknowledge those who inspired us and through

whose leadership we have move forward!
